Online Learning
Discover the Advantages of Online Learning at Olympus High School
Welcome to high school for today's world. Olympus High School courses are online—so you can keep your life on track and be on track to graduate. Here are a few of the advantages of online learning.
Provides Flexibility
You may not be ready to study algebra at 8 a.m. But you may be more receptive to learning it at other times. Perhaps you have commitments or priorities that make it difficult to physically attend class at a designated time. With online learning, you can log in and learn when you're at your best—and when it works best for you.
Offers Increased Opportunities
With online learning, you may be able to take courses that your school doesn't offer. Or if your school doesn't have a qualified teacher in a particular subject area, you may be able to take an online course in that subject area that is taught by a subject matter expert.
Meets Your Individual Needs
Online learning can be ideal whether you're a working student, young parent, gifted learner, elite athlete, performer, or home-bound or home-schooled student. According to the North American Council for Online Learning, online courses "have worked well with students of all kinds, including at-risk students, students in urban and rural areas, those with limited English proficiency, and those with special needs."*
Enables You to Work at Your Own Pace
Self-paced online courses can help you learn to set priorities and effectively manage your time and responsibilities—skills that are important in the real world.
Engages You with Interactive Learning
Online learning can be interesting and exciting. Teachers of online courses "report getting to know their students better, and students who are shy or do not think well ‘on their feet' tend to contribute more in online environments," according to the North American Council for Online Learning. Additionally, the organization notes that students in online courses "are often actively interacting with both resources and others in online environments."*
Develops Real-World Skills
With online courses, you learn to use technology to communicate, find information, complete assignments, solve problems and enhance your knowledge. These technology skills can be useful in the work force or in college.
