English III is a general studies program in literature and composition, organized as a survey of American literature. Students read a diverse selection of essays, short stories, historical writings, novels, and poetry. Special emphasis is placed on using the writing process while producing expository, research, and creative compositions. Critical and analytical skills are built through close readings of literary, historical, expository, and functional documents and using context strategies to build vocabulary.
